Checklist to get into the Discovery to Apprenticeship (DTA) program:

To register as a client and access all of that DTA's services in New Westminster, BC please read and complete the following checklist...
  • You must: Register with an ERC (Employment Resource Centre) or a CM (Case Manager) before you attend the DTA Information Session.
    HOW? See ERC section below.

  • You must: Attend a DTA Information Session held a few weeks prior to each intake starts.
    HOW? Check Current Dates on the website frequently to see information session dates.

  • You must: Either fax or bring the referral form you receive from the ERC or CM when you come to the information session with the ERC or CM name, phone, fax, and any information on it from the ERC or CM. SIN numbers are also required at this point to verify that you are not in receipt of EI benefits.

  • You should: Bring a resume to the information session to speed up the registration process. NOT REQUIRED

  • You must: Set up an interview time (during or after the information session).


ERC (Employment Resource Centre): A Service Canada, Government designated office where Unemployed (Underemployed) persons register for a referral to Employment Assistance Programs (like DTA) that will assist you in accessing employment directly (or indirectly via training if eligible). If you are NOT registered with an ERC you will NOT be able to attend a DTA Information Session. To register with an ERC you can locate one near you by visiting the Lower Mainland Employment Resource website: http://www.lmer.ca



CM (Case Manager): When you register with an ERC you will meet with a Case Manager who will work with you to explore your options as an unemployed person including a ''Needs Determination'' specific to your unemployment status. For example, if the ERC or CM determines your needs or interests are within a trades sector and you meet the DTA program elligibity criteria then you can access or be referred to DTA.



Service Provider: A program, like DTA that an ERC or CM refers Unemployed people to for Employment Assistance services including, workshops, assessments, information, support, and more, to help you get back to work as soon as possible.
